2020 was in many ways a challenging year for both adults and children. Instead of having the rest we are accustomed to, taking walks and travelling, we spent a better share of the year at home. Some may see such leisure time burdensome and boring, but we believe that you can find a silver lining in any dark cloud. For instance, will you ever again have so much time to learn how to sing like professional singers? There are a couple of winter months ahead, so we have a chance to remove our children from their gadgets and throw a real karaoke party. It will take us a good karaoke system, good mood, and some imagination. Let’s get going!
Talent is a non-issue
When you connect your karaoke system to the TV set and audio system, your children will hardly realize what it is. You will have to be the first to perform, even if you’ve never sung anything ever before. And it’s not only about showing them how to use a karaoke system but also about striking a spark out of them and making them want to sing.
At this moment, you need to understand it perfectly well that talent is a minor point here. And energetics lavishly makes up for the lack of experience. The flabby boring performance or bashful mumbling to the microphone will show the kids that karaoke is not really fun. Otherwise, why would the adults stay away from singing? Children sense a phoney a mile away.
It doesn’t matter whether you sing karaoke for your family or a 100,000-crowd stadium, the main issue is not the talent but your spirit. You don’t need a good voice or ear for music either. Everything it takes is enthusiasm.
Lockdown separated us from our families and friend with the hard-to-overcome barriers. Traditional get-togethers during the Christmas holidays never happened for many people last year. The circumstances may be beyond our control, but can they really prevent us from spending time with our family? Of course, Zoom, Google Meet and other video communication services won’t replace personal interaction, but at least you don’t have to cook as much as you usually do!
Modern children have no problem with the online mode of meetings. A virtual party can be as fun as a regular one. The joint conference opens new opportunities, such as bringing together around one “table” dozens and hundreds of people, separated by a long distance. You can invite to the video chat all your remote family and friends from overseas and make a concert with the songs they suggest.
If you put significant effort into decorating your room, your guests will enjoy an excellent music show. Domestic lamps will serve as studio light boards, while Bengal lights and paper streamer will contribute to the festive environment of the celebration. Don’t forget about the costumes – children love to dress up. Get armed with scissors, glue, and patience, and help them fulfil their wildest ideas true.
To keep the karaoke going without children stumbling over choosing a song (and we all know that children can be whimmy and throw temper tantrums if something doesn’t work out), let’s give kids a helping hand and make a playlist with the songs in advance. Before the party, discuss who is going to sing what, have some rehearsals, and add the backtracks to the Favourite list of the karaoke system. Now the songs won’t be missed and will be within one-click access.
If you are going to sing at your guests’ suggestions, then prepare one song to sing it all together. Use the list of our best Christmas songs or if you are not big on traditional melodies, then try something unusual to surprise everyone. Ask the guests to sing with you. If they refuse, threaten them with making the monitor looking to the wall.
Keep it in mind that the party is organized for the children in the first place, so restrain from any extremes. The children are the bosses here. Show respect to them and discuss every detail – from selecting tracks to drinks on the table. Let them demonstrate their independent behaviour and imagination when deciding what kind of party they are going to have.
From time to time, any parents come up with an idea to throw a really cool birthday party for their kids by themselves. For some, this idea seems too complicated and energy-consuming. But we assure you that a “home-made” child’s birthday party is not a big deal. Especially for you, we offer four ideas which will be of great use in organizing the celebration.
Let the entire world sing
Make sure you video record of what is happening. Don’t forget to record it on your karaoke system to then add video footage and edit the bright video to keep it as a momento. Your friends on social media will love festive videos, where your children and you are singing together Christmas songs.
If your children want to start a YouTube channel or Tik Tok account, they will get excellent music content that will discover their talent to the entire world. This family Christmas party may become that starting point where your children fall in love with music and decide to connect their lives with it.
We make no promise that a producer will knock at your door next morning, but we guarantee you an amazing communication experience you are going to have with your children thanks to music. And it is no small feat in our hectic world where we always lack time for the most important thing we have – our family.
Enjoy your karaoke!
