How to Monetize a Karaoke Business: 13 Working Strategies

  • August 7, 2026
  • Karaoker

In over 20 years of work, we’ve put together 13 working strategies for monetizing karaoke. Whether you’re opening a new club or looking to boost revenue at an existing venue, these strategies will help significantly increase your average check — possibly even multiply it.

Queue management and original services

Queue management and original services

1. Base fee per song

A classic and completely straightforward format, where each stage appearance is paid for separately.

💡 Hack
Introduce dynamic pricing. Monday through Thursday, make songs free (or minimally priced) to build traffic, and charge maximum price during weekend prime time.

2. “Crazy song”

A chance for a guest to sing out of turn for an amount 10 or even 100 times the standard price.

💡 Hack
To ease the other guests’ irritation, cap the number of these songs per night. Put part of the revenue toward a “Crazy menu” — free cocktails or desserts for visitors whose turn got pushed back.

3. “Crazy² song”

A vanity auction. There’s always someone willing to outbid and pay several times more for the right to sing out of turn.

💡 Example
Introduce simple math: crazy squared (the price multiplies itself), crazy cubed. We don’t recommend going beyond cubed, to avoid provoking a riot in the room.

4. Song from staff

Give a guest the chance to pay for a performance by your talented staff (for example, as a surprise for their date).

💡 Example
Turn it into a real show. Have the bartender sing right from the stage, and the cook come out into the room in their chef’s jacket. Most importantly, don’t forget to motivate singing staff with a good percentage of the order.

5. Karaoke auction

Selling exclusive lots. For example, the right to sing a duet with the venue owner or with the most active guest in the room.

💡 Hack
Bring in partners (beauty salons, barbershops) and give their gift certificates to the winners of these auctions.

Capacity management

6. Cover charge

A great filter against casual onlookers and non-paying crowds.

💡 Hack:
The cover charge can be raised, justifying the price increase with themed parties. Monthly passes at a discount compared to weekly visits also work great.

7. Minimum spend

A guaranteed order amount per table. It weeds out people wanting to sit all night with a single glass of sparkling wine, and helps plan kitchen load — and accordingly plan prep work and logistics overall.

💡 Example
Offer guests the chance to pre-order dishes within their minimum spend at a 10% discount. It’s an ideal win-win strategy: good for the customer, and it helps the kitchen prepare ahead of time.

8. Karaoke room rental

Renting out private VIP rooms with hourly pricing, where guests can sing with their own group and order food and drinks.

💡 Hack
Introduce flexible rates. Cheaper during the day, more expensive in the evening. For rentals of 5+ hours, offer a substantial discount to keep the group.

9. Private parties

Renting out the whole club, turnkey, for corporate events and private celebrations.

💡 Important
Always inform regular guests in advance, so they don’t show up to closed doors at their favorite venue.

10. Higher markup ratio

Having quality karaoke lets you confidently price your bar and kitchen higher than regular cafés and restaurants. Guests are willing to pay more for entertainment.

💡 Hack
So the check doesn’t feel intimidating to guests, mix daily promos into the menu: Monday — “1+1=3”, Tuesday — 50% off a second cocktail, and so on.

11. Special shows

Organizing performances with professional backup vocals or even celebrities (together with event agencies).

💡 Example
If a star is touring the city, offer the birthday person who rented your room an exclusive video greeting from the celebrity, or a joint duet.

12. Monetizing greetings

Displaying paid birthday or anniversary greetings on the venue’s screens.

💡 Hack
Use modern tech: generate a personalized AI voice greeting from the guest’s favorite artist and play it right before the birthday person takes the stage.

13. Advertising opportunities

Selling airtime on your screens (for example, a running text banner, a static banner, or even a standalone clip during breaks between performances).

💡 Example
Offer this time to your suppliers. In exchange for airing their ads, you can get exclusive pricing and the best purchasing terms.

Bottom line
